With the objective of developing and qualifying the production of chickens and organic pigs in Pará, the activities began on the 28th with visits to breeders.

On 29th, veterinarian Angela Escosteguy spoke to IFPA students and teachers, addressing the theme “Organic Systems of Animal Production, situation and prospects”. On the same date, the techniques of Emater, Angela Mocelim and Ana Cláudia Siviero, presented to the participants some actions of the company with the organic producers.

Also taught by director IBEM, the course “How to raise chickens and organic pigs” took place from 29 to 31, with lectures and practical activities on nearby farms. 30 people participated, including organic producers, Emater-PA technicians, IFPA and Federal University of Pará (UFOPA) professors and local breeders. According to Angela Escosteguy, the group is very interested in raising chickens and pigs according to the norms of organic production, because the possibilities are numerous, mainly in terms of harnessing local products for animal feed, without destroying the forest

Angela celebrates the success of the activities in the Amazon: “the group intends to continue with the objective of defending the forest from the advance of industrial agriculture, showing that it is possible to raise animals with well-being and produce healthy food for the indigenous communities, quilombolas, riverside and sell the surplus, keeping the forest and its rich biodiversity. ”
