IBEM SIGNS TERM OF AGREEMENT WITH TRANS DICIPLINARY UNIVERSITY OF INDIA
At the end of 2016, the IBEM and TransDisciplinaryUniversity (TDU), Bangalore, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in research, training, extension and exchange internship. The document guarantees a partnership between IBEM and TDU, a pioneer in research and education in Ayurvedic Biology, a new transdisciplinary area. The collaboration will take place through the exchange of students and teachers, as well as support in research and extension projects. Through this initiative, the IBEM cooperative network is growing, allowing the emergence of new and promising opportunities.
The university was recognized as a National Center for Excellence in Medicinal Plants and traditional knowledge. It is also the only one in the world to have a database on the medical subject Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani systems, with information of traditional medical knowledge since 1500. ATDU offers only postgraduate courses and training in several areas, besides having several labs, campus, medicinal herb garden and the largest database of medicinal plants in India.
The university is interested in exchanges with Brazil, mainly in the area of medicinal plants used in the animal area. The University has an EthnoVerinary Study Group and an EthnoVerinary Program to reduce the use of antibiotics in animal production. According to TDU’s idealizers, Ayurveda Biology combines traditional ancestral knowledge with modern knowledge of health promotion and, according to them, having in-depth knowledge in one specific area is not enough to understand life and society.
